Waikawa Fishing Company is a sustainable Maori seafood company based in Picton, Gateway to New Zealand’s beautiful Marlborough Sounds. In 1981 Geoff and Steve Connor bought a small boat and went fishing. They had a vision, and salt in their veins. With the support of their wives Christine and Elizabeth and whanau, Waikawa Fishing Company has gone from strength to strength. Today they operate a fleet of fishing vessels, with 30+ staff both on the vessels and onshore.

Waikawa Fishing company is made up 30+ onshore staff and crew. Our skippers are highly trained and experienced. Passionate about the industry and producing premium sustainable seafood products.
A tight knit team aboard each vessel, creates a family feeling as they work in a uniquely stunning environment. Our skippers and crew are greatly valued members of our Company.
Onshore staff range from office administration, engineers, maintenance crew and marketing. Our onshore staff are an invaluable support system for the vessels, and ensure the growth and innovation within the company.
Our diverse team is the foundation of our company, striving for premium products, sustainability and innovation. We are all united by our passion for our beautiful Aotearoa waters

Our Catch

Crayfish
Our vessels pot for Crayfish around the coastline of Te Wai Pounamu (South Island) and off the Taranaki coastline, for local and offshore consumption. Crayfish have a vibrate orange rich red shell and a beautiful firm delicate tasting white flesh.
Wetfish
We harvest and pack a range of fin fish in our Connors Catch brand and also supply companies with fresh chilled fin fish product.
Scampi
Little known in New Zealand, sweet-tasting scampi are a delicacy in markets including China. Harvested from the deep waters off the New Zealand coast, scampi is exported under the award-winning Connors Catch label.
